In the case of Vasco, the story begins with Edmundo and takes over the stands later. In 1997, Animal commanded the historic team that would win the Brazilian Championship that year. In an inspired season, the then striker decided to pay homage to Molejo’s friends and celebrated goals by dancing to the song “Samba Rock do Molejão”, a hit by the pagode group.

The organized “Força Jovem” absorbed the music and adapted it. In the chorus, instead of singing “colé, colé, colé, colé, tô na boa”, he changed the ending to “sou da Força”. The song is still sung today in practically every game, especially after goals.

Anderson and Andrezinho fueled healthy rivalry between Fla and Vasco

Anderson Leonardo and his group mate Andrézinho fueled the Fla and Vasco rivalry. The healthy banter between clubs even found its way into another song that was successful.

The song “O Carioca” mentions peculiar characteristics of those who live in Rio. In one excerpt, the behavior of such a citizen in football stadiums is mentioned, and Andrézinho sings: “…And when he goes to the stadium, he goes to the general public, jumps on the seats, curses the referee (thief, scoundrel, scoundrel) , but it’s a joke. If Vascão wins, then there will be drinking…”. Afterwards, Anderson Leonardo interrupts his friend and shouts “Mengoooo!”.

Fla and Vasco issue official note

Flamengo and Vasco issued an official statement on their social networks. Both clubs mourned the death of Anderson Leonardo.
