After obtaining a suspension effect and returning to action after more than a month away from the field, punished for attempted fraud in the anti-doping test, Gabriel Barbosa may be playing his last games with the Flamengo shirt. With no renewal expected with the Rio club, the striker is already starting to think about his future in Brazilian football.
With an unlikely extension of his relationship with the Red and Black, the top scorer is asking for around R$2 million to sign with another team and leave Flamengo for free at the end of the year. From July onwards, Gabigol can now sign a pre-contract with any club. The striker is constantly scouted by clubs in the country.

“Flamengo has historically demonstrated on several occasions that it extends players’ contracts to the end and renews them at the end. […] We’re going to make a proposal. Gabigol will have this opportunity to decide. So we can’t talk unilaterally about whether we count on him or not. We will certainly want to tell him, but he may have other better opportunities than playing for Flamengo”, declared the red-black president, Rodolfo Landim.

Gabriel Barbosa arrived at Flamengo in 2019, and quickly fell in favor with the fans. Scorer of very important goals, such as those for the Libertadores titles this same year and also in 2022, the biggest scorer of this century with the Rio club’s shirt is, certainly, one of the main names in the history of Gávea. But even that doesn’t seem to guarantee the renewal of his contract.
