A Association of Supermarkets of the State of Rio de Janeiro (ASSERJ) carried out a survey among consumers and found that they intend to spend an average of R$240 on purchases for the Mothers Day. The survey also revealed that 97% of respondents confirmed that they intend to celebrate the special date in some way.
These numbers are in line with the expectations created by supermarkets, in Rio de Janeiro. According to research, the sector expects an average growth of 8% in sales for the commemorative date.
“We have great expectations, yes, we really believe in this extremely important date for the sector, mainly due to the current economic scenario”evaluated Adelino Lopespresident of Rede Economia, when commenting on expectations.
According to the survey, 74% of respondents will have a special meal to celebrate with their family. The search for ingredients to compose the lunch or dinner offered in honor of their mothers is of interest to supermarkets, which invest heavily in promotions.
According to ASSERJ, traditional Mother’s Day Sunday meals will have, firstly, beef (45%) as the most popular option, followed by chicken (16.6%), fish or fresh fruit. sea (8.7%) or pork (3.7%). In 12.4% of responses, the meal will consist of a dish not mentioned above, and in 0.5% it will be vegetarian or vegan dishes.
