At a meeting of civil servants, GDF presents a document with local goals for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda

The Federal District’s (DF) commitment to a sustainable future gained even more prominence, this Tuesday (23), with the launch of the 1st Voluntary Local Report of the Federal District (RLV) on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The presentation of the document, held in the auditorium of the School of Government (Egov), it is part of the program of the II DF Sustainability Forum.

The meeting aimed to promote awareness and commitment to sustainability, allowing local bodies and their employees to share initiatives and commit to implementing public policies and sustainable practices.

In a letter introducing the report, the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, highlighted the relevance of the results presented. “This document will serve as a testimony to the efforts undertaken to date and will inspire innovations to face the next challenges”, stated the manager.

The executive secretary of planning at the DF Economy Secretariat (Seec), Otávio Veríssimo, explained that the moment is historic for the federal capital and for the country. “It is a moment in which we present to the world our contribution to building a society that seeks balance between social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being. More than a statement of accounts, this report is the synthesis of our commitment to the future”, he emphasized.

During the launch, authorities symbolically signed the document, which lists all GDF actions and policies aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda.

Healthy life and well-being for all

Representing the Secretary of Health, Lucilene Florêncio, the head of the department’s Strategic Management and Projects Advisory, Vinícius Lima, reaffirmed the commitment to fulfilling SDG 3, which seeks to guarantee access to quality healthcare and promote well-being for everyone, at all ages.

“This report is very important, as it summarizes the DF’s work towards fulfilling the UN agenda until 2030, aiming to achieve the established objectives and goals”, he said.

Aimed at employees of the Government of the Federal District (GDF), the forum included lectures on the impacts of climate change in the DF, solid waste, environmental education and waste treatment, in addition to presentations on public policies for preserving the environment.

One of the speakers was the coordinator of the Development Unit of the United Nations Program (UNDP), Betina Barbosa, who addressed the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. “For the UNDP, which has the agenda of coordinating the integration of the 17 SDGs, it is very important that national and local contributions are strong and embrace the commitment of the 2030 Agenda”, she defended.

Document

The Local Voluntary Report is a tool that allows state and municipal governments to assess and present progress made in implementing the 17 SDGs. It helps to identify priorities and better define possible areas of government action to build a more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable city.

The Federal District version has 62 pages and is available for access on the website www.ods.df.gov.br. Held by the Secretariat of Economy (Seec), the event had as partners the Secretariat of the Environment and Animal Protection (Sema), the Brasília Environmental Institute (Ibram), the Urban Cleaning Service (SLU), the University of the Federal District (UnDF ) and the executive secretariats for Planning (Splan/Seec) and Quality of Life (Sequali/Seec).
