The victim is a man, whose genetic material was compared with DNA provided by a person who introduced herself as his daughter this Monday (29). The victim’s name was not disclosed by the IGP, due to the General Data Protection Law.

The other four people who were not identified have already had their genetic material collected by the IGP.
In total, 10 people introduced themselves as family members of fire victims. Experts use the RapidHIT platform, which allows genetic profiles to be obtained in around 90 minutes.
The collections take place at the headquarters of the Regional Center of Excellence in Criminal Forensics of the South, located at Avenida Voluntários da Pátria, 1358, in Porto Alegre. Opening hours are from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The Medical-Legal Department operates at other times and days.

The Civil Police seeks to hear from the people who were there at the time of the fire, those responsible for the building and those who inspected the property.
In a note released on Saturday (27), those responsible for Pousada Garoa state that they are “fully collaborating with the competent authorities to clarify the details of this event”.
“The safety of our guests and employees is our priority. We are fully committed to providing all necessary support to people. Furthermore, we continue our work to assist the homeless population, reinforcing our social commitment”, says the statement.
