It is undeniable that the Hyundai Creta is successful in Brazil, as the model occupies second place in the SUV segment, with 18,935 units sold in the year to date. But in India, the Creta – which was restyled in January, bringing forward the look that the Brazilian model will soon gain – had a surprising acceptance.

There have been 35 thousand orders since its debut, and in April alone, registrations exceeded 15 thousand units. In this way, it became the Korean brand’s best-selling car in that country. Recently spotted testing on Rodovia dos Imigrantes, the new-look SUV is expected to debut in Brazil later this year.

What changes in the new Crete

As it is a mid-life facelift, the Creta does not bring drastic changes. Sides, roof, size and various details remain the same. The most notable differences are at the front and rear, thanks to the new optical assembly and the squarer grille. The headlights positioned below the LED lights remain, but with a cleaner proposal, and the bumper has been redesigned. This should resolve much of the criticism of the controversial look of the current model.

At the back, the lanterns have straight cuts that cross the entire trunk lid. There is also LED lighting and H-shaped elements, like the front. Dynamic arrows are also part of the set and should be equipped on the more expensive versions. Finally, the wheels have a new design.

Interior and mechanics

It is not yet possible to know whether the Brazilian model will follow the Indian configuration in the cabin. However, there the Creta receives a digital instrument panel integrated into the multimedia center (both 10.25” each), in addition to equipment such as blind spot monitor, stability control, panoramic sunroof and ventilation for the front seats, for example. .

In terms of mechanics, it is certain that the 120 hp 1.0 turbo engine will remain in line. The 167 hp 2.0 aspirated engine still has an uncertain future. In India, the SUV has a 160 hp 1.5 turbo, which could be an option for the top versions here. But the most popular engine to replace the 2.0 is the Tucson’s 1.6 turbo.

In addition, the Creta will also have an electric configuration, which should debut in 2024. The model was spotted testing in South Korea, Hyundai’s home country. The design will be the same as the Indian Creta and there is a good chance that the model will be launched in Brazil in 2026 to compete with the BYD Yuan Plus.
