Military police officers from the Mobile Tactical Ostensive Patrol Battalion (Rotam) arrested two men, aged 23 and 22, for illegal possession of a weapon and criminal association, on Sunday night (28), in Sorriso. In the action, seven firearms were seized that allegedly belonged to a criminal faction in the city.
According to the incident report, police teams received information from the intelligence sector about the location of a black Cobalt vehicle, which was suspected of being used in robbery crimes in the region. Immediately, police teams carried out investigations and located the vehicle parked in a store, on the banks of BR-163.
In searching the suspect and vehicle, Rotam located a .9mm caliber pistol with a scratched number, loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. When asked about the object, the man stated that he would hand over the weapon to a second suspect to commit crimes against members of rival factions in the city.
At this moment, the second criminal approached the scene and was surprised by the presence of the police, being arrested in the act. For the police, the man confirmed the first suspect’s version.
Still in testimony to the military, the first detainee stated that in his residence there were more weapons stored at the behest of the criminal faction and that the objects were used in crimes that had been occurring in the municipality.
Rotam and 12th Battalion teams went to the suspect’s address and located six more firearms, including two pistols, two .38 caliber revolvers and two 12 caliber rifles. Also at the scene, another 280 pieces of ammunition were seized. for all weapons, as well as magazines and balaclavas.
The suspects were arrested and taken, along with all the seized material, to the Sorriso police station, where the police report and other measures were registered.
