Man dies in accident involving 4 vehicles in West BA

A serious accident involving a truck and three passenger vehicles left one man dead and at least seven people injured, on BR-242, in Luís Eduardo Magalhães, in western Bahia. The accident occurred around 6:30 pm on Saturday, near the Bahia Farm Show Complex. Walterlins Pereira Ribeiro da Silva, died at the scene.

Among the injured, a child was taken to a health unit. The local media points out that a utility vehicle, SUV type, driven by the businessman from São Paulo, was heading towards Luís Eduardo Magalhães, when it then collided with a box truck in the opposite direction. After the frontal impact, the utility vehicle hit two more vehicles.

At least five ambulances were sent to the scene of the accident, two from Samu and another three from the municipality to help the victims. Two of them were taken to Hospital do Oeste in Barreiras and four others to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) of Luís Eduardo Magalhães. A driver refused assistance.

Once called in, the Fire Department rescued a woman trapped in the wreckage, as well as the driver’s body also trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle he was driving. The Technical Police Department (DPT) removed his body to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Barreiras. However, there is no information about the health status of the injured and the businessman’s burial.
