“Register!” Campaign starts this Monday (13) in Pernambuco; project expands access to documents for people from Pernambuco

This May, the General Inspectorate of Justice of Pernambuco (CGJ-PE) will coordinate the National Civil Registration Week – Register! throughout the State. The collective effort begins today (13th) and continues until May 17th.

In the Capital, the opening will take place at 8:30 am, at Expresso Recife, a space managed by the City Council. The initiative joins the other states of the federation and the Federal District.

The movement’s main aim is to expand access to basic documentation for all Brazilians, with a focus on serving homeless people, indigenous peoples and the population deprived of their liberty.

This year the collective effort, established by the National Justice Inspectorate in 2023, has the slogan “Your story has a name and surname”.

How is it going to be

The campaign will take place in various parts of Pernambuco. The action will have the support of registry offices, which will operate during extended hours, from 8 am to 6 pm, to issue birth, marriage and death certificates, in partnership with the Association of Natural Persons Registrars (Arpen-PE).

The General Inspectorate of Justice acts with the support of the State Government, through the Tavares Buril Identification Institute (IITB), of the Recife City Hall, through the Secretariat of Social Development, Human Rights, Youth and Drug Policies, of the Regional Court of 5th Region (TRF5), Federal Revenue, Brazilian Army and INSS.

In addition to issuing certificates at notary offices, Pernambuco will have services at Expresso Cidadão points located in the municipalities of Olinda (Metropolitan Region), Garanhuns (Agreste Meridional), Petrolina (Sertão do São Francisco), Vitória de Santo Antão (Mata Sul), Caruaru (Agreste Central), Salgueiro (Sertão Central). In the last three cities, Expresso Cidadão, in addition to issuing Identity Cards, will also provide services for birth, marriage and death certificates.

In Recife, the collective effort will take place at Expresso Recife, located at Rua Dr. João Vieira de Menezes, n° 113, Santo Amaro. Birth, marriage and death certificate services will be offered; ID card; CPF regularization; Brazilian Army service (enlistment, first and second copies of the incorporation exemption certificate, release certificate and exemption certificate); CADUnico service (membership services, inclusion in the registry, updating); Service from the Employment Agency (consultation and guidance on the digital employment card and referral to job vacancies); and guidance on benefits from the National Social Security Institute (INSS).

Through the Tavares Buril Identification Institute (IITB), in partnership with Arpen-PE, people deprived of liberty who are at the Professor Everardo Luna Observation and Screening Center (Cotel), at the Bom Pastor Penal Colony and at the Desembargador Augusto Duque Prison , in Pesqueira, will also benefit from the action.

The indigenous population residing in the municipality of Pesqueira, in the Central Agreste, will be served by the Civil Registry Office for Natural Persons (RCPN) of Cimbres, with the issuance of certificates and IDs.

The quilombola community in the region of Angico and Flores, in the municipality of Bom Conselho, in Agreste Meridional, will also have assistance for certificates.
