Rape suspect induced 12-year-old girl to run away from home to live with him in Manaus, police say | Amazon

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping a 12-year-old teenager in Manaus. He induced the victim to run away from home to live with him, according to police. His 27-year-old brother was also arrested for contempt, threats and disobedience against police officers.

According to delegate Joyce Coelho, the teenager’s mother registered a Police Report (BO) on April 19 of this year, reporting her disappearance. The teams began investigations and managed to locate her at the suspect’s home, in the Monte das Oliveiras neighborhood, North Zone of Manaus.

“We went to the scene and found that the man induced the teenager to run away from home and live with him. The man was arrested red-handed. His brother saw the situation and disrespected the police and made threats, and was also arrested”, explained the delegate.

The suspect was charged with rape of a vulnerable person and his brother for contempt, threat and disobedience. They will undergo a custody hearing and will be available to the Court.
