Woman arrested in Grande Natal suspected of using a false document to transfer voter registration | large northern river

The Federal Police arrested a woman suspected of using false documents to transfer her voter registration card. A teenager who tried to issue her first voter registration card also using false documents was apprehended.

The case took place at the electoral office in Extremoz, in Greater Natal, on the morning of this Wednesday (7). committing an electoral crime.

According to the Federal Police, the two women went to the electoral registry in Extremoz with the aim of registering to vote. One of them sought initial registration, while the other requested a title transfer. However, the Electoral Court official identified that the documents presented by the suspects were falsified and contacted the PF.

The minor was taken to the Civil Police for appropriate measures, and the other was taken to the headquarters of the Regional Superintendence for arrest procedures in the act.

According to Article 289 of the Brazilian Electoral Code, the conduct of fraudulently registering as a voter is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and the payment of a fine of five to fifteen days.
