One drone integrated with an artificial intelligence platform and equipped with thermal cameras that allow the precise and real-time location of people in places with difficult access and visibility, it will be used to try to locate missing people amid the disaster caused by heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul.

The most recent data released by the state Civil Defense indicates that there are 128 missing amid the flooding. One hundred deaths have already been confirmed. Furthermore, more than 1.4 million people were significantly affected by the floods that hit 417 of the state’s 497 municipalities. In total, 66,671 people were sent to shelters, but 163,720 are still homeless.

The equipment was donated by a group of companies – Telebras, the Bembras group and its partners PrimeField, Golden, SST and SayVU –, who decided to send highly complex technological equipment to the state to assist in the communication of rescue teams for flood victims.

In addition to the drone, four antennas of satellite internet connectivity powered by solar energy, in addition to a Mobile Command and Control Station with complete resources for communication and logistics.

“It is extremely important and urgent to send state-of-the-art technological connectivity equipment to Rio Grande do Sul to assist the population of Rio Grande do Sul in their demands that require internet connection,” said Bembras director Kéber Coelho. According to him, the equipment will assist the work of the State and National Civil Defense, Fire Department, Military Brigade and Armed Forces. The initiative has the support of disaster management experts from the Civil Defense of the city of Jaú (SP).

The material joins the 34 antennas that Telebras has already sent to Porto Alegre and which act in conjunction as a type of “flight control” for the various equipment used for rescue and rescue of those affected, who require good quality intermittent internet. in an adverse environment.

These are transportable satellite terminals (T3SAT) that offer broadband connection via satellite to rescue teams, field hospitals and shelters in regions affected by the floods. Of this total, 14 units are in operation in the Crisis Office, allowing the different centers to communicate with the field teams of the Air Command, State and National Civil Defense, Fire Department, Military Police, Intelligence, Logistics, Health and Communication.
