Kristen Stewart says she won’t do a Marvel film, but opens up conditions to accept

Oscar-nominated actress for “Spencer” (2022), Kristen Stewart revealed that she will “probably never” do a Marvel film. In an interview with the podcast “Not Skinny But Not Fat”, last week, she revealed that she considers the studio’s features “a damn nightmare”.

In response to presenter Amanda Hirsch, who said she can see her as a Mary Jane from “Spider-Man”, Stewart made it clear that she is not opposed to starring in big productions because “she likes people to watch them when she is in them”.

However, she said that “the system would have to change” for her to be in a Marvel feature film. “You would have to invest so much money and so much trust in one person… and that doesn’t happen,” she said. “And then what ends up happening is this weird, algorithmic experience where you can’t feel a personal connection [com o filme]”.

However, the actress also declared that she is “not the type to say no”, and that one filmmaker in particular would make her rethink her decision. “If Greta Gerwig asked me to do a Marvel movie I would do it,” she confessed, referring to the “Barbie” director.

In 2019, the “Twilight” star even said that he would accept playing a gay superhero in the studio’s feature films. Shortly before, she revealed that she was advised to keep her sexuality a secret if she wanted to land a major role. “If you don’t go around holding your girlfriend’s hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie,” they said.

Kristen Stewart’s most recent work is in the independent film “Love Lies Bleeding”, from A24. She will play Lou, a gym manager who becomes involved with aspiring bodybuilder Jackie (Katy O’Brian, from “The Mandalorian”). The film opens on May 1st in Brazil. Watch the trailer here.
