Pernambuco achieves positive employment balance in March | Latest: Pernambuco.com

The month of March 2024 was positive for job creation in Pernambuco. According to data released this Tuesday (30) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), the State obtained 1,364 new signed cards. This is the first time that the number of admissions in the state exceeds the number of dismissals, in the month of March, since 2020, when statistics began to be measured by Novo Caged. As a result, the total number of jobs created in the first quarter of this year reaches 5,709, an increase of 125.5% compared to the same period in 2023 (2,532) and 963% compared to 2022 (537) .

According to the Secretary of Professional Development and Entrepreneurship of Pernambuco (SEDEPE), Amanda Aires, the new data represents a significant advance for the period. “Achieving the feat of breaking a historic cycle of negative balances for the month of March demonstrates that Pernambuco is on the right path to generating jobs. This period is observed as typically prone to layoffs in the state, due to factors such as the sugarcane off-season, for example. Even so, obtaining a positive balance is a strong indication of economic development, with the growth of other sectors”, she states.

When comparing the month’s result with March last year, this upward trend in the Pernambuco economy gains strength. During the period, there was a negative balance of -5,537 jobs, while in March 2022, a negative balance of -6,840 was recorded. In relation to the employability of the female population, the numbers for March 2024 are also positive, with 2,500 new formal positions occupied by women in the state.

Sectors

The positive result in March this year in the state was driven by the Services (3,387), Construction (994) and Commerce (426) sectors. In the first area, it is worth highlighting the performance of the category classified as “Information, communication and financial, real estate, professional and administrative activities”, responsible for the balance of 1,876 new hires. Still within this, the “administrative activities and complementary services” stand out, which hired 1,220 new employees.
