In addition to visiting Embraer, Lula got to know the Brazilian Air Force’s aerospace projects

The Air Force Commander, Air Lieutenant Brigadier, Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno, and the General Officers of the Air Force High Command, received the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, this Friday (24), at the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), in São José dos Campos (SP), for the inauguration of the new student accommodation block dedicated to students from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) with capacity for 80 students, which is part of the expansion of the Institute.

Next, there was a visit to the Preparation and Integration Laboratory (LPIN), of the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE), where the Commander of the Aeronautics made a presentation of the TR-5000 turbojet engine project, a 100% national jet turbine, which will soon be a commercially viable alternative in the energy generation sector, based on the use of multifuels.

In his words, Air Lieutenant-Brigadier Damasceno thanked the government for the government’s investments in the aeronautical industry and highlighted the Brazilian Air Force projects under development from ITA Fortaleza, the new Aerospace Technology Park, at the Salvador Air Base to the new Aerospace Museum in São Paulo.

The Department of Aerospace Science and Technology and its laborious institutes constitute a large complex dedicated to the research and development of Brazilian aerospace power, leading activities linked to innovation in our Air Force, thus demonstrating to the world the valuable DNA of the Brazilian people. Confirming its commitment to the country’s progress, FAB continues to play a fundamental role in the development of intelligent solutions, always focused on synergy between operational employment and the common good”, stated the Air Force Commander.

On the same occasion, the presidential delegation had the opportunity to learn about the Microsatellite Launch Vehicle project. (VLM), developed by the IAE for the launch of microsatellites into low orbits, which aims to guarantee Brazil’s presence in space, inserting it among the powers that dominate this technology.

The President of the Republic highlighted, in his speech, the importance of investments in the defense industry to have projects, scientific and technological decisions to help other branches of Brazilian industry.

We need to believe that Brazil has no limits. In addition to protecting the people, in addition to protecting the air and sea border, in addition to protecting our airspace, we have to gain space in the world of the defense industry. And this is the role of a country that has the ITA. This is the role of a country that was able to create an Embraer. This is the role of the country capable of being the third largest aircraft producer in the world. We need to have a very strong defense industry so that we don’t depend on anyone. We have the conditions to be a great nation in the area of ​​defense to build peace”, concluded Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

At the end of the event, the Air Force Commander presented the President of the Republic with a souvenir, a miniature TR-5000 Turbine.
