Recriar Vida launches project focused on socio-emotional skills for the Tocantins Police Department

Recriar Vida, in partnership with the Military Police of Tocantins (PM/TO), carried out, this Tuesday, April 30th, the launch of the Project to Strengthen Socio-Emotional Competences and Abilities, which focuses on strengthening the public policy of appreciation and attention to the mental health of the corporation’s military police officers. The event, which was held in the auditorium of the General Command Barracks (QCG), in Palmas, is based on Law 4,452 of January 8, 2024, which establishes the State Mental Health Policy for members of the Civil Police, Military Police , Military Firefighters, Criminal Police, Scientific Police and Socio-educational Agents, by the state government.

According to the director of Instituto Recriar, this union with the PM/TO will be to improve the health of the PMTO’s military police officers. “In the Military Police, we are providing specialists from Recriar, to join forces with specialists from the glorious Military Police, and together, they can build assertive projects that serve their troops. This emotional strengthening serves both the police officer in the course of his profession, but also how he can take care of himself and his family”, says Ricardo Ribeirinha.

The event was attended by federal deputy Carlos Henrique Gaguim (União Brasil/TO), who strengthened the project with the allocation of one million reais in a parliamentary amendment, for the topic of mental health and socio-emotional skills. According to the deputy, “it is necessary to take care of those who take care of people and our intention is to further strengthen the mental health of public security professionals”, he concluded.

Launch

To launch the strengthening project, an inaugural lecture was presented, with the theme: “Mental Health: Scientific Reflections and Practical Experiences in Military Police Activity.” The speaker was military officer José Edir Paixão de Sousa, master in Public Health from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), specialist in Public Security, Human Rights and Citizenship and bachelor in Law also from UFC; lieutenant colonel of the Military Fire Brigade of the State of Ceará – CBMCE.

During the event, the opening presentation of the Socio-Emotional Skills and Skills Strengthening Project took place at PM/TO, with Dr. Arelly Sequim, psychologist from the Recriar Vidas Institute, Luiz Francisco de Oliveira, prosecutor and Colonel Marcelo Falcão Soares, in addition to the presentation of the troops present, made by the chief of staff, colonel Cláudio Thomaz Coelho de Souza to the general commander, colonel Márcio Antônio Barbosa de Mendonça.

Since 2019, actions have been aimed at strengthening not only public safety, but also the well-being of those who dedicate their lives to serving the community. With the implementation of the Institutional Quality of Life at Work Policy and continuous actions, as well as the 2023 Law, of the state government, which establishes the State Mental Health Policy for members of the state security forces, concern for the well-being The status of professionals is consolidated in this government.

Recreate Life

The Recriar Vida institute is a non-profit organization that has a multidisciplinary team of specialists, such as masters and doctors, in different fields of mental health and its director is Ricardo Ribeirinha. The institute provides assistance to people struggling with addiction and their families, as well as a variety of prevention programs, including educational workshops and seminars, community events, and school-based prevention programs.

According to the commander’s words, “Amongst the countless important and pleasant moments that we have had in the Tocantins Military Police, today’s date is included as an extremely important event. Socio-emotional competencies and skills are on the agenda that draws our attention and knowing that there are people concerned about helping us, collaborating, strengthening professionals, within the institution, is something that makes us happy and comforts us”, highlighted the commander- general.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Chief of Staff, Colonel Marizon Mendes Marques, Executive Regional Delegate of the Federal Police, Doctor Max Eduardo Ribeiro, the General Commander of the Tocantins Fire Department, Colonel Peterson Queiroz de Ornelas, the Advisor Together to the Public Security Secretariat, Colonel Félix Francisco dos Santos Neto and federal deputy Carlos Henrique Gaguim.
