Dengue in Bahia: the number of deaths from the disease rises to 49

The number of deaths from dengue fever in Bahia rose to 49. According to a report released by the Department of Health (Sesab), Vitória da Conquista, in the southwest of Bahia, continues to lead the number of deaths.

The two new deaths were recorded in the municipalities of Caraíbas and Maraú. See the balance sheet:

Also according to the bulletin, Bahia has a fatality rate of 2.7%, lower than the national average.

Dengue Statistics

Until April 20, SESAB reported 153,404 probable cases of dengue in the state. In the same period of 2023, 19,106 probable cases were reported, which represents an increase of 702.9%. Vitória da Conquista continues to lead the number of cases, with 24,111, followed by Salvador, with 6,796, and Feira de Santana, with 6,239 probable cases of the disease.

To date, the state has received 170,469 doses of dengue vaccine, 120,022 of which expire on April 30th. In total, considering all lots, 122,680 have already been administered.
