BYD officially confirmed this Wednesday (8) the extension of the warranty for the entire line of hybrid and electric cars in Brazil, including used models. Now, coverage for electric vehicles goes from 5 to 6 years and there is no longer a mileage limit — previously it was 500,000 km driven. The same also goes for the brand’s hybrids like Song Plus.

What changes to BYD’s warranty in Brazil?
- Now, the 6-year, unlimited mileage warranty applies to all BYD vehicles sold in Brazil, including pre-owned ones (engine and battery have 8 years of coverage).
- The same 6-year warranty also applies to low to high voltage components of the car.
- Systems will be covered for 3 years.
- For hybrids, the warranty will also be 6 years and there is no mileage limit.
- For peripheral items, suspension, steering, door handles and locks, for example, the warranty is 6 months or 10,000 km, a higher mileage limit.
Commercial vehicles, both electric and hybrid, will also have warranty changes. It will be 8 years for the battery, with a higher mileage limit (500 thousand km) — previously it was 6 years or 150 thousand km driven. Peripheral items will have the same coverage as passenger vehicles, that is, 6 months or 10 thousand km.
According to information obtained by Four wheels, the guarantee offered until then by BYD was criticized by a portion of buyers. The rotating main screen, for example, will now also be covered for 3 years, up from just one year.
