The Ceará Water and Sewage Company (Cagece), together with other sanitation companies in the country linked to the Brazilian Association of Basic Sanitation Companies (Aesbe), will join efforts in mobilizations to help the population affected by the climate tragedy in the state of Rio Grande of the South. Awareness campaigns in different Brazilian states are being carried out by the 22 companies associated with Aesbe, to encourage donations and promote cash collections via pix for the population affected by the floods.
In Ceará, Cagece is already promoting the “SOS Rio Grande do Sul” campaign. The company will count on the solidarity of employees in the state’s sanitation sector to collect clothes, shoes, blankets, personal hygiene items, basic food baskets and other supplies. Donations collected by Cagece will be sent weekly to Rio Grande do Sul by air transport.
“We are witnessing an unprecedented disaster in the State of Rio Grande do Sul and we have a responsibility to join forces to help. We reinforce our solidarity with the population of Rio Grande do Sul and are available to collaborate in whatever is necessary”, says the president of Cagece and CEO of Aesbe, Neuri Freitas.
Among the various difficulties faced by the population of Rio Grande do Sul is the lack of drinking water to quench the population’s thirst. Of the six Water Treatment Plants that operate in Porto Alegre, which is the capital of the southern state, four were compromised by the floods. As part of a centralized operation, Cagece will also immediately donate glasses of Drinking Water to serve the most needy places in the state in the southern region of the country.
