Former administration secretary is victim of kidnapping in southern Bahia

The former Secretary of Administration of Belmonte, Helton Matos de Menezes, was kidnapped this Wednesday (8). The crime took place in the city in the extreme south of Bahia.

According to information from the Civil Police, he was driving along BA-275, when he was approached by three men in another car. The suspects tied up Menezes and placed him in the trunk of this second vehicle.

Then, they abandoned the former secretary, with his hands tied, on the same highway. He was found by people who were passing by and called the police.

The man was then taken to a health unit, where he received medical and psychological care. Despite the scare, Menezes is doing well.

His car was left near the Ponto Central district, also in the area. The car was set on fire.

The case is investigated by the Civil Police, which investigates the author, motivation and circumstances of the crime. According to the Porto Seguro Police Station, the procedure remains confidential.
