A partnership between the government of the State of Acre, through the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights (SEASDH), and the Social Service of Commerce (Sesc) resulted in the signing of an agreement aimed at supplying food to the municipalities in Acre affected by the floods.

The partnership was made official, this Tuesday, 2nd, at Sesc Mesa Brasil with the aim of providing more than 9 tons of food, as well as clothes, fruits, vegetables, cleaning kits, among others, to the places affected by the recent floods . This joint initiative not only seeks to deliver vital supplies, but also identify families hardest hit by this year’s flooding.

The manager of SEASDH, Maria Zilmar da Rocha, highlights the importance of these joint actions between the government, the private sector and social organizations: “These are the actions of the government, the private sector, the System S, which have had a presence in the table, in the family of the Acre citizen. And the State has managed to minimize this situation through the Assistance Secretariat, which is able to reach people in vulnerable situations”, she explains.

Sesc’s interim director of Social Programs, Laura Ferraz, highlights that this collaboration with the State will allow the inputs collected to directly help affected families, especially those who lost their means of subsistence in rural areas and had their homes damaged:

“Through these supportive partnership actions we can really serve those in need. And this is the focus of this action: reaching those most in need, because we know that now this time of returning home is very difficult for the population”.

The food comes from the Sesc Mesa Brasil program, collected through the SOS Rondônia and SOS Acre campaigns, organized by the Fecomércio system.

Marizete Melo, Assistance Manager at Sesc Acre, emphasizes the importance of the Mesa Brasil program in combating hunger and food waste, highlighting the crucial role of the partnership with SEASDH for the delivery of these inputs.
