Cooperatives, individual microentrepreneurs, small entrepreneurs, small, medium and large companies can apply for the certificate through the Jucepe website
Registration for the Pernambuco Green Company Seal has been extended until May 15th. Companies in Pernambuco with an active CNPJ, including individual microentrepreneurs and cooperatives, and that demonstrate environmental responsibility, can register to receive certification through the Commercial Board of Pernambuco website (portal.jucepe.pe.gov.br/
Submission is made through an online questionnaire. Each question in the questionnaire, referring to a sustainable practice, is equivalent to a score and must be proven through supporting documents that will later be validated by the State Environmental Agency CPRH.
The Green Company Seal is not exclusive to large corporations. Cooperatives, individual micro-entrepreneurs, small entrepreneurs, small, medium and large companies can apply, as long as sustainability is one of the pillars that guides the institution’s day-to-day practices.
If the company does not yet have an environmental responsibility clause in its social contract, it can apply to Jucepe and apply for the green seal with the protocol number.
There are a series of benefits for legal entities that obtain the minimum score of the Green Company Seal, from access to lines of credit linked to environmental requirements and even priority in tiebreaker criteria in state tenders. Other benefits are in addition to those already mentioned. The company with this certification has easier entry into markets with high environmental criteria requirements and it is possible to link the Green Company Seal to advertising and marketing pieces from the certified company.
Another important point is that certified organizations increase their reputational capital, valuing their brand and attracting investors, suppliers, customers and partners aligned with the environmental cause.
Punctuation
If the company reaches a minimum score, different for each size of the organization, it becomes a Green Seal. For cooperatives, individual entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises, the minimum score is 20 points. Small businesses need to reach at least 25 points. For medium-sized companies, the minimum score is 35 points, while large corporations need to reach a minimum of 60 points.
“The score varies depending on the size of the company because the larger an organization, the greater its environmental impact”, explains the executive secretary of Sustainability at the Secretariat of Environment, Sustainability and Fernando de Noronha de Pernambuco (Semas-PE), Karla Godoy . The Green Company Seal certification is valid for two years.
Karla Godoy also emphasizes that the main proposal of the Green Company Seal is, in addition to certifying, encouraging companies on the importance of adopting sustainable practices.
“The seal should not be seen as an end goal. The greatest importance of this seal is to lead companies to a process of reflection and change about the impacts that their activities can have on the environment. And what they can and should do to minimize and mitigate these impacts. It’s a continuous educational process,” she emphasizes.
Green certificate
The selected companies will receive the Green Company certificate in June, in a recognition ceremony. The date, time and location of the ceremony will be defined and announced soon.
The Green Company seal consists of an action by Jucepe, in partnership with the Secretariat of Professional Development and Entrepreneurship (Sedepe), Semas-PE and the State Environment Agency (CPRH). It is aimed at promoting public policies aimed at environmental preservation and sustainability in the State of Pernambuco, being to date the only one of its kind promoted by the State Executive Branch.
