Manoel Carlos’ family revealed that the author was not informed by Globo about the development of the documentary Tributo – Manoel Carlos, released by Globoplay in honor of the veteran. An Instagram profile, managed by the family of the writer of Laços de Família (2000) stated, this Wednesday (27), that the artist would have given a statement if he had been called to talk about his work.

The veracity of the statement was confirmed by the author’s daughter, Júlia Almeida, who worked on most of the soap operas created by the veteran. “On behalf of the Boa Palavra family and team, we would like to express our thanks to Globoplay for producing ‘Tributo – Manoel Carlos’. We would especially like to thank all the artists and friends who shared their testimonials and contributed to this beautiful tribute”, says the text.

“It is extremely important to inform that Manoel Carlos had no knowledge at any time about this project during its entire gestation until its exhibition. If he had been informed, he would certainly have contributed with his presence, words, and stories, further enriching this tribute. Even in a more reserved moment, he would love to see his old co-workers again,” he continues.

The documentary Tributo – Manoel Carlos features the participation of several artists who worked on the author’s works, such as Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003), Páginas da Vida (2006) and Viver a Vida (2009). Susana Vieira had one of the most notable testimonies. The 81-year-old artist said that she studied the texts of the soap opera Por Amor (1997) while having sex with a boyfriend at the time.

Tony Ramos, Christiane Torloni, Vera Holtz, Taís Araujo, Regiane Alves and Carolina Dieckmann were some of the names who gave interviews to Globoplay to honor the career of the veteran, who is currently 91 years old and lives in Rio de Janeiro.
