Parking lots are closed for the demolition of the old Port Workers Club building | Rio de Janeiro

Isolation will be carried out gradually. From 7pm onwards, five more locations will be closed to parking:

– Avenida Francisco Bicalho, side lane, towards Rio Bus Station, between Praça Dinah de Queiroz and Rua Comandante Garcia Pires;
– Avenida Francisco Bicalho, side lane, towards Avenida Presidente Vargas, between Avenida Pedro II and Rua Idalina Senra;
– Rua Comandante Garcia Pires, between Avenida Francisco Bicalho and Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais;
– Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais, along its entire length and in both directions;
– Praça Dinah de Queiroz, on the stretch between Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais and Avenida Francisco Bicalho.

On Sunday, in a staggered manner, the surrounding streets will be completely blocked for the movement of people. Civil Defense established a security perimeter of 150 meters from the implosion.

Starting at 5:30am, scheduled to be released at 10am:

– Avenida Francisco Bicalho, side lane, towards Rodoviário do Rio, between the first needle for the central lane and Rua Comandante Garcia Pires;
– Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais, towards Praça Dinah de Queiroz;
– Praça Dinah de Queiroz, on the stretch between Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais and Avenida Francisco Bicalho;

At 6:30 am, expected to be released at 7:30 am:

– Avenida Francisco Bicalho, central lane, towards Av. Brasil, and its accesses: Avenida Presidente Vargas; Clover of the Armed Forces; Bridge under the Viaduct of Via Férrea.
– Avenida Francisco Bicalho, towards Avenida Presidente Vargas: Central lane, between the Gasometer descent loop and Rua Francisco Eugênio; Side lane, between Av. Pedro II and Rua Idalina Senra;
– Rua Comandante Garcia Pires, between Avenida Francisco Bicalho and Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais;
– Rua General Luís Mendes de Morais, towards Rodoviária;
– Descent loop from the Captain Sérgio de Carvalho Viaduct (Gasologista) to Avenida Francisco Bicalho;
– Avenida Pedro II, towards Av. Francisco Bicalho, between Rua Melo e Souza and Av. Francisco Bicalho;
– Rua Pedro Alves, between Rua Moreira Pinto and Av. Francisco Bicalho.
At 6:55 am, expected to be released at 7:05 am
– Descent loop from the Captain Sérgio de Carvalho Viaduct (Gasologista) to Rua do Equador;
– Climbing loop from Rua do Equador to the Capitão Sérgio de Carvalho Viaduct (Gasologista);
– Avenida Brasil, side lane, towards the Center, between Rua São Cristóvão and Av. Francisco Bicalho.

Access to Rio Bus Station must be via Rua Equador or Avenida Brasil, a lane next to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (Into). Rio City Hall recommends that those scheduled to board at the time of the closures move forward with their journeys.

The implosion is part of the public authorities’ actions to promote the revitalization of the region. This will be a new stage in the series of property demolitions in the region that began in March, in partnership between the Municipality and Caixa Econômica Federal, which received the land as part of the agreement that financed the Porto Maravilha Urban Operation.
