John Textor reveals that he tried to hire Abel Ferreira for ‘other places’ and rebuts Leila Pereira, from Palmeiras: ‘You are intentionally lying’

Owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor spoke out, in a video released on Saturday night (27/4), about the controversy surrounding the Palm treeswhich was not placed as responsible for the manipulation of results in Brazilian football, but he’s getting irritated. The director responded to the president of the alviverde club, Leila Pereiraand revealed that he tried to hire the technician Abel Ferreira “to other places”.

– Maybe it’s the vocabulary or the translation. I’m not offended. I think she’s offending me, if that’s what you want to know. What do I think of this? I have made it clear countless times that no one at Palmeiras did anything wrong. I praised your coach, Abel Ferreira, countless times. I adore him as a man, as a person. I’ve tried stealing it silently from them before. He never listened to me. For jobs elsewhere. Not here. I respect their players and what they did on Wednesday night, overcoming a huge disadvantage (a 3-2 comeback against Independiente Del Valle, in the Libertadores). I think my message to Palmeiras and referees around the world is that they are good enough. They don’t need any help. But yes, she runs away and says I’m crazy, that I didn’t produce evidence, that’s a lie. She’s lying. It’s misinformation. Whenever she goes on air and says that “he makes these allegations without proof” it is an intentional lie. She knows exactly what I did at STJD. She is putting tremendous pressure on them. I can’t tell you why she’s so against it. There are other clubs that may have been involved in match fixing and their presidents responded in an entirely different way. – said Textor, leaving a message for Leila Palmeiras.

– They said: “If some of my players did something wrong or if something happened to the opponent where they did something wrong, I want to know. And, John, I’m with you.”. I am receiving silent support from other club presidents who are in a similar situation to her. I guess my message to her would be: “If you’re not guilty, stop acting guilty. Because you’re certainly not acting like someone who wants to get to the truth.”.
