Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will have a major change in the color of the SF-24 for the Miami GP, the next stage of Formula 1. Ferrari announced that it will have a two-tone blue livery during the race weekend to honor the 70 years of the team’s arrival in the United States market.
Two shades of blue were chosen for the SF-24’s color change: Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino, taken from legendary Ferrari cars. The first of them was used by Alberto Ascari, two-time Formula 1 world champion, on his helmet and overalls during the two titles he won in the category.
Azzuro La Plata is the official color of races in Argentina, and was also used by Ferrari in the United States and Mexican GPs in 1964, the last two races of that season, won by John Surtees, the team’s driver.

The Azzurro Dino tone is darker than Azzuro La Plata and was last used in 1974. That year, Clay Regazzoni and Ferarri were runners-up in the Formula 1 world champions. Since then, the red paintwork has been made official for racing and blue was not used again in F1.
It will not be the first time that Ferrari has adopted a new color for a Formula 1 race. In 2023, the team used yellow together with red for the Italian Grand Prix, in Monza, to honor the 499P’s victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the 2020 Tuscan GP, the team wore a burgundy tone to celebrate its 1,000th race.
The next race of the 2024 F1 season will be the Miami GP on May 5, valid as the sixth stage of the championship. See full calendar.
