Rio – Edson Davi’s family held a demonstration in Praia da Barra, in the West Zone of Rio. The 7-year-old boy disappeared four months ago near Posto 4, where the family hung banners asking for clarification of the case. The Civil Police claim that the child drowned, but relatives believe that Edson Davi had been kidnapped.

“Unfortunately, four months have passed of great pain, anguish, distress, despair and great longing! Four months and we still have no solution, no answers from the competent authorities. We held a demonstration to show our indignation, which we have not forgotten and we will not stop fighting until we get justice! I continue with faith and hope in finding my son! We have been carrying out a private investigation for almost two months, I am very confident in their work. to thank lawyer João Capanema Tancredo and his office who, on Friday, embraced our fight in search of my son. A great lawyer and an excellent human being. The investigations are still ongoing, fighting for justice and, above all, finding my son. son in the name of Jesus”, said Marize Araújo, the boy’s mother, to the DAY.

Edson Davi, who turned 7 in February, disappeared near the tent where his parents work on January 4th. Marize organizes a virtual fundraiser to help cover the costs of a private investigation to investigate the kidnapping hypothesis.

“An intense search was carried out at sea, where nothing was found. The firefighters themselves don’t believe in the drowning. I don’t know why the police continue with this thesis, they don’t give me support and they don’t listen to me as a mother. I feel alone in this situation, I don’t just feel like I’m fighting to find my son, but I also feel like I’m fighting with the State to prove that my son didn’t drown. As a social class, we see ourselves as very vulnerable, very small in the face of a situation like this. that there really is and a stallholder’s son has no voice”, lamented the mother during a protest in April.

On the day of his disappearance, the boy was in the tent with his father. Marize had gone to take her other son to a doctor’s appointment. The last time he was seen was at 4:46 pm through a recording made by an employee at the family tent.

The mother claims that Edson is afraid of the sea and would never have dived. Furthermore, around 400 meters of the beach had no images recorded on security cameras.

The Fire Department personnel who were working on the day of Edson Davi’s disappearance and were away for psychiatric reasons, said in a statement on the 29th that they did not see the boy enter the water.

According to delegate Elen Souto, firefighters stated that the sea was rough and that there was a ditch right in front of the family’s tent. The lifeguards also highlighted that three red flags were posted and that they did not see the child enter the water. “The firefighters didn’t see anything, but they said that the sea was rough. There are no witnesses who report kidnapping, there are only witnesses who say that he was in the water and wanting to enter the sea,” she said. The case continues to be investigated by the Whereabouts Discovery Department (DDPA).
