Brazilians advance from the group stage of the WTT Youth in Metz

This Saturday (27), the WTT Youth Contender under-19 table tennis tournament took place in Metz, France. Four Brazilians were present at the competition. Hamilton Yamane and Kim Iwasaki managed to qualify in the group stage and will play in the knockout stage. On the other hand, Davi Fujii and Guilherme Diniz were eliminated and are out of contention.

Group stage

In the group stage of the WTT Youth Contender of SPA under-19, Hamilton Yamane was the first Brazilian of the day, he was defeated by the Belgian Tom Closset by 3-0 (3/11, 9/11 and 7/11) he managed to win from the Spaniard Miguel Zaballos by 3 to 1 (16/14, 14/16, 11/8 and 11/8). The other table tennis player from Brazil to compete this afternoon was Kim Iwasaki, who won the first game against Matthias Scheurwater from the Netherlands by 3 x 1 (10/12, 11/4, 11/8 and 11/9). But in the second game, he lost 1 x 3 (11/4, 7/11, 2/11 and 6/11) to Japanese Tomoki Omoda. Both Brazilians advanced to the knockout stage.

On the other hand, Davi Fujii and Guilherme Diniz did not have a good day of competitions. Davi was defeated by Ukrainian Mykyta Zavada 3-0 (9/11, 13/15 and 11/13) in the first game. In the second, the Brazilian was better in the match, but ended up losing again by 3 to 2 (11/9, 10/12, 6/11, 11/6 and 7/11 to the South Korean Yun Eunbin. Guilherme Diniz ended up having the Same fate as his colleague, he lost the two games he played in. In the first match, he lost to Wassim Essid from Tunisia by 3 x 0 (2/11, 11/13 and 4/11). lost again 3 x 0 (5/11, 6/11 and 5/11). Therefore, the two Brazilians were eliminated in the group stage.

Future competitions

Next Sunday (28), the first round of the knockout phase takes place. Hamilton Yamane will face Xavier Wats from Belgium. Furthermore, Kim Iwasaki, who also advanced, will duel against Giacomo Allegranza (ITA). This Sunday the next stages of the competition will also take place.
