The 2024 edition of CONMEBOL Libertadores is still in the group stage, but the world of football met this Sunday (05) the first two classified for the 2025 edition: San Antonio, from Bolivia, and Students from La Platafrom Argentina.
Both teams were champions in their respective countries. San Antonio made history and won the Apertura Tournament for the first time. The club beat Universitario de Vinto in the decision, with a 2-1 victory in the first match and a 1-1 draw this Sunday, at home. It is the first time that the club has qualified for the continental competition.
Estudiantes overcame Vélez Sarsfield in the Argentine League Cup final. The duel, played in a single game, ended in a 1-1 draw in normal time and was resolved on penalties. The Argentine team is currently competing in the Libertadores, in group C, the same as group C. Guild — The Strongest It is Huachipato complete. The team has one win, one draw and one defeat in the three games so far.
In total, 32 teams compete in the Libertadores group stage. There are also three preliminary phases, with teams seeking to qualify.
Brazil is entitled to seven places. The top four in the Brazilian championship and the champion of Brazil’s Cup guarantee direct passage to the group stage. The fifth and sixth placed teams compete in the pre-Libertadores. The number could increase if a Brazilian team wins South American or the Libertadores itself in the previous year.
