Robinho can play football, do theater and attend English classes in prison < No Attack

A former striker for the Brazilian national team, Robinho will be able to participate in football games with other inmates after leaving isolation at Penitentiary 2 of Tremembé, in São Paulo.

According to the São Paulo Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SAP-SP), the former player will be able to do other activities, such as theater workshops, English classes, religious actions, musical rehearsals and filming sessions.

The information was released by the portal G1. Lawyer José Eduardo Alckmin stated that Robinho is fine.

“Of course he would prefer to be free and living his life. But, as far as possible, he is fine”, said lawyer Alckmin, in contact with the G1.

Robinho’s conviction

Robinho will serve a nine-year prison sentence for raping an Albanian woman in Italy in 2013. At the time, the striker was playing for Milan.

The Italian court sentenced Robinho in the last instance – that is, without the possibility of new appeals – by the Milan Court in January 2022. The player forced a woman to have sex with him and five other men 11 years ago, at the Sio nightclub Coffee.

When he was convicted of gang rape, Robinho lived in Brazil. As the country does not extradite native Brazilians, he remained free. However, in February 2023, the Italian Court made a request to approve the sentence – that is, it requested that the former athlete serve the sentence for the crime on Brazilian soil.

On March 20, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) decided that Robinho will serve his sentence in Brazil. The following day, the STF minister, Luiz Fux, denied the request for habeas corpus made by the former player’s defense minutes before his definitive arrest.
