Featured in UFC 300, Diego Lopes was judged by the Nevada Athletic Commission after committing a violation in the historic event. In a hearing held this Tuesday (30), the athlete was penalized for jumping over the containment fence moments after the victory over Sodiq Yusuff. As a result, the Brazilian had US$5,000 (around R$25,000) withheld from his salary.
At the time, Diego, ecstatic, left the limitations of the octagon for a brief conversation with Dana White. The action, however, violated the rules previously imposed by the Commission.
A member of the top 15 featherweights (up to 65.7kg), Lopes will have the opportunity to recover his full payment. The Brazilian’s case will be evaluated at a disciplinary hearing scheduled for May.
In addition to Lopes, Arman Tsarukyan he was also punished by the jury. The situation involving the executioner of Charles do Bronx was more aggravating.
As he walked to the Octagon for his UFC 300, the Armenian reacted to a fan’s provocation and threw a punch at the spectator. Due to his attitude, the athlete was injured US$31.6 thousand (approximately R$163 thousand).
Currently, Diego and Arman are highlights in their respective categories. While the Brazilian is experiencing a clear rise in the featherweight category (up to 65.7kg), Tsarukayan is a strong candidate for a title fight in his division.
