Ian Gouveia is not a bird, but he flew the Gold Coast Challenger in Australia. In the early hours of this Tuesday, the Brazilian qualified in style for the round of 16 of the competition. In a battery dominated by BrazilIan finished a wave with an insane aerial and received a score of 8.73, the best in the championship at Snapper Rocks so far. Check out the maneuver:

Ian Gouveia’s flight lifted him to second place in the heat and guaranteed his classification. In total, the surfer scored 14.80. First place went to Samuel Pupo, with 15.93. Mateus Herdy and Lucas Silveira also competed in the heat, but were eliminated with scores of 10.50 and 9.63, respectively.
In addition to Ian and Samuel Pupo, other Brazilians confirmed their place in the Gold Coast round of 16. João Chianca, Chumbinho, returned to the sea after the serious accident he suffered in December last year, and won the second heat with 12.97. Deivid Silva was second in the heat, but also passed. Then, Alejo Muniz and Michael Rodrigues did another Brazilian double.
The next call for the competition should be at 6:45 pm (Brasília time) this Tuesday. In the round of 16, Ian Gouveia will once again face a Brazilian. Alejo Muniz and Ian face each other in the sixth heat of the night.
