Yuki Tsunoda is known for his profanity spoken over the team radio. However, the RB driver stated that controlling his anger takes a lot of work for him, which is why his behavior has not changed much since his debut in Formula 1.

Tsunoda knows he needs to tame his temper if he wants to move up to Red Bull Racing. The Japanese recognizes that he needs to improve in this regard, as everything is televised these days.

A recent example was at the Bahrain GP, where Tsunoda had a disagreement with his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, and ended up swearing on the radio once again.

In Saudi Arabia, he managed to hold on better in a situation that tested his patience involving the two Haas drivers.

“I’m very happy with how I handled the situation,” Tsunoda said. “I would say that normally I would turn on the radio and say what I used to say. But at the same time, I want to change, so I’m happy that I was able to prove that a little bit, take that first step.”

However, Tsunoda confessed that holding his tongue takes a lot of effort for him. “But it wasn’t easy, obviously. Even inside the helmet, I was biting my tongue hard. I didn’t know that not using the radio would actually consume so much energy. More than I use for my neck or to withstand the G force”, concluded the Japanese pilot.
