The Rio Chamber decided this Tuesday (30) that private maternity hospitals must adapt to the needs of pregnant women who use a wheelchair. This is what the PL 1847/2023, by councilors Veronica Costa (Rep), Marcos Braz (PL), Luciana Novaes (PT) and Dr. Marcos Paulo (PT), approved in the 2nd discussion. The matter will be subject to sanction or veto by Mayor Eduardo Paes.

“The problems that wheelchair users face on a daily basis are visible. The lack of conditions for mobility is inhumane, even more so for future mothers. Hence, the idea of ​​the project, which aims to alleviate the problems suffered by pregnant wheelchair users”, state the authors.

According to the proposal, maternity wards must have automatic gynecological tables in operation adapted to facilitate these women’s access to gynecological examinations and collections. In case of non-compliance, the institution will be fined R$5,000, an amount that will be doubled in the event of a repeat offense.

Food donation

The councilors also approved, in the 2nd discussion, the PL 441-A/2021which authorizes the allocation of food in nature or surplus industrialized products, prepared or not, used or not consumed in the feeding of students in Public Education Network units, to people who are in a situation of social vulnerability.

The registration of the donees will be carried out by the Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance and Human Rights (SMASDH), which, after attesting the vulnerability of the person assisted, will forward them to the regional Education unit closest to the residence presented and which is able to promote the donation of the donations. foods.

“Given the serious situation of hunger and food insecurity that we are experiencing, actions are essential not only to raise awareness among the population about the need for new consumption habits, but also for the adoption of measures to avoid this waste by public authorities. For this reason, we presented the project to authorize the appropriate allocation of surplus food from educational units to the population in a state of social vulnerability”, explains former councilor Felipe Boró, author of the measure. The matter was approved in the 2nd discussion and will go to Mayor Eduardo Paes for sanction or veto.

Veto

Finally, the councilors maintained the total veto by Mayor Eduardo Paes to the PL 2385/2023by former councilor Felipe Boró, who renames the José Mauro de Vasconcelos Municipal School as Marcio André Nepomuceno Garcia Municipal School – MC Marcinho. The article will be sent to the archive.
