Deputy Glauber Braga, from PSOL, expels MBL member from the Chamber with kick and push

The Chamber’s Ethics Council opened a disciplinary process this Wednesday (24) to investigate the conduct of deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ), who kicked a member of the Free Brazil Movement (MBL) out of the House. .

Author of the representation, the Partido Novo requests the revocation of Glauber’s mandate for conduct that, in the acronym’s assessment, violates the “norms of decorum that require respect and decorum in interactions”.

Last Tuesday (16), Glauber and Costenaro argued verbally in one of the Chamber’s annexes. The disagreement evolved into pushing and kicking the parliamentarian against the MBL activist, in a move to forcibly remove Gabriel Costenaro from the House’s premises.

The discussion continued outside the House’s annex and had to be broken up by legislative police officers, who took the two to give testimony at the Chamber’s Legislative Police Department (Depol).

Once at Depol, Glauber started arguing with Kim Kataguiri, who had gone to the place to accompany the MBL supporter. Videos show that, at a certain point, Glauber Braga holds and presses Kim’s hands, an act that Novo also classifies as physical aggression to the Ethics Council.

The parliamentarians still exchanged shoves. See the videos:

Opening a case is the first phase of a representation filed against a parliamentarian.

Deputies Cabo Gilberto Silva (PL-PB), Rosângela Reis (PL-MG) and Sidney Leite (PSD-AM) were selected as possible rapporteurs. It will be up to the president of the council, Leur Lomanto Júnior (União-BA), to choose the person responsible.

After being appointed, the rapporteur will have a period of ten working days to present a preliminary opinion, which may be to continue or close the case.

If the process continues, after several stages, which provide space for the parliamentarian’s defense, the rapporteur may decide on acquittal or punishment, ranging from censure to loss of parliamentary mandate.

In addition to the process opened this Wednesday, Glauber Braga is also the target of another ongoing procedure at the Ethics Council. In this case, the PL alleges that Glauber physically attacked deputy Abilio Brunini (PL-MT) during a public hearing on the war in Gaza.

In a statement released after the riot, Glauber stated that Costenaro had offended someone. The parliamentarian also accused the activist of seeking confrontation with PSOL members to achieve political engagement. Gabriel Costenaro is a pre-candidate for councilor in Rio de Janeiro.

“This MBL guy has a history of attacking women. It’s his 5th provocation! The 4th time he threatened the mother of one of our militants over 70 years old, saying he knew where she lived. There is already a police report about this! I don’t regret anything I did! I’m not going to back down to being an MBL fascist,” he wrote.
