Celestial body was recorded by cameras from the Brazilian Meteor Monitoring Network (BRAMON) in Monte Castelo, Santa Catarina
On the night of last Monday, April 1st, monitoring cameras from the Brazilian Meteor Monitoring Network (BRAMON) in Monte Castelo, in the north of Santa Catarina, recorded a meteor crossing the sky.
Also known as a “shooting star”, the celestial body wandered for about 4 seconds, and then a small explosion could be seen on it. It is worth mentioning that BRAMON is an open and collaborative organization, made up of volunteers.

According to g1, the image was recorded at 9:26 pm last Monday, April 1st, and probably occurred over the city of Joinville. The phenomenon was possibly also visible in other surrounding places.
Other celestial bodies
Previously, Santa Catarina was the stage for the passage of other celestial bodies. In June 2023, for example, more than 200 meteors could be seen by a monitoring station also in Monte Castelo.
Furthermore, in May last year a meteor was also seen crossing the sky and disappearing behind a cloud; even earlier, in December 2022, a bolide meteor — known for its explosive characteristic — was spotted at impressive speeds as well.

“Meteors can be caused by the entry of any solid object into the Earth’s atmosphere. They are generally caused by meteoroids, which are rocks up to one meter tall. If they exceed one meter, they are called asteroids. Meteorites are rocks that eventually survive the heat generated in the atmospheric entry and end up reaching the ground”, explains the amateur astronomer Jocimar Justino to g1.
