Reaching a state of well-being, that is, in which the body and mind are well and satisfied, is no easy task. In addition to being many, demands change due to changes in society and the environment, which requires people and the well-being market to pay close attention to thinking and rethinking solutions.

That’s why, year after year, since 2007, the Global Wellness Summit (Global Wellness Summit, in free translation) studies and gathers trends for the well-being market. The result is a report that indicates the central themes for conversations and actions related to well-being – three of which you can see below:

Mental health is no longer a taboo topic as it once was, but many issues related to it are still in the process of being destigmatized. Therefore, it continues to be central in discussions about well-being.

According to the report, the focus should be on specific groups, such as men, who have historically had little incentive to take care of their emotions and mind, and women who have recently given birth, who need assistance and care to deal with the physical and mental changes that the arrival of a baby baby brings.

But that doesn’t mean other groups shouldn’t be concerned, nor that the market shouldn’t turn its attention to them.

Amid increasingly frequent and intense heat waves resulting from climate change, thermal comfort becomes a fundamental part of well-being, according to the Global Wellness Summit report.

Thus, already known techniques for cooling our bodies, homes and cities – such as the use of vegetation in architectural, interior and urban projects – will become increasingly common. At the same time, people must change some behaviors, for example, swapping beaches for mountains when traveling for leisure or taking vacations in milder seasons.

The market, in turn, will increasingly invest in solutions – technological or otherwise – to offer comfort to people, from smart clothes to monitor someone’s physical condition in relation to temperature to new sustainable construction materials that promote well-being thermal in houses and cities.

The aging of the population has been causing individuals, researchers and companies to question how to reach old age in physical and mental health for some time.

In 2024, research related to this should continue and the market should offer more and more options to allow people to live longer and healthier lives, such as longevity clinics that offer training and exams, urban longevity centers where elderly people can live and specific retreats for seniors.

At the same time, it will be a period of reflecting on access to solutions to live longer and better and on the impacts of this extension of life on our mental health and our relationship with finitude.
