This Wednesday (8/05), the entities of the National Nursing Forum, the Regional Nursing Council of the Federal District (Coren-DF), together with parliamentarians, filed a new Proposal for Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) in the Senate , which establishes a 30-hour working day for Nursing professionals, conveyed to the Salary Floor.

The STF, in judging the motions for clarification presented to the Direct Action of Unconstitutionality (ADI) No. 7,222, decided that the salary minimum for the category refers to a working day of 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week.

“The 30-hour day is a historic demand for the category. It is an urgent measure to guarantee dignity to Nursing professionals”, says the president of Coren-DF Elissandro Noronha.

Nurses, nursing assistants and technicians are exposed to long hours of hard, exhausting and risk-filled work. For the approval of the project, at this time, the signatures of 27 senators are required.

“Defending 30 hours means defending the quality of life of nursing professionals and, consequently, an increase in the quality of care”, states regional councilor Adriano Araújo, who represented Coren-DF on the occasion.
