The Steam hardware survey for the month of March shows us that the GeForce RTX 3060 continues to lead as the most used GPU among PC gamers who play on Steam. Between February and March, joining this video card grew 0.75%, now totaling almost 7% of the share.
The RTX 3060 has been growing for months and leaves the RTX 2060 and GTX 1650 even further behind, especially since the two registered a drop of 0.02% and 0.16%, respectively. Both now account for 4.07% and 4.10% of the total.
Another GPU that has a chance of coming in just below the GeForce RTX 3060 in the next report is the RTX 3060 Ti, which grew 0.23% and now has 4.05% of the share, touching the RTX 2060 and GTX 1650.
The successor to the most popular Ampere GPU, the RTX 4060, has also been gaining prominence and now accounts for 2.59% of the total after growing 0.60% in March.
AMD Radeon GPUs have timid participation
In relation to rival AMD, its graphics cards stagnated in this latest report. According to Steam, almost all models recorded a drop of between 0.01% and 0.03% in March. The few exceptions are the Radeon RX 6800 and Radeon Vega 3, both with an increase of 0.01%.
The direct rival of the RTX 3060, the Radeon RX 6600, was one of those that registered a drop of 0.01% in March and now accounts for 0.66% of the GPU share. The best positioned Radeon is not even a specific model, but rather AMD Radeon Graphics, which are integrated graphics, with 1.98%.
The AMD graphics card with the best position (3rd among Radeons) is the RX 580 with 0.83%, even less than the very expensive GeForce RTX 4090 which comes just above with 0.87% share.
In relation to processors, Intel registered a slight growth of 0.83%, totaling 68.74%. AMD fell the equivalent, also 0.83%, now standing at 31.22%. 6-core CPUs continue to lead with 35.69%, followed by octa-cores (19.49%) and quad-cores (19.30%).
