Braga’s board is playing hard to release Artur Jorge to Botafogo. However, the owner of SAF black and white, John Textor, remains calm on the coach’s arrival.

– Our agreement is signed, and the club was paid very well to release the coach. So far, they have been very professional, and we are satisfied with the negotiations. We hope for a long and collaborative relationship between Eagle Football and SC Braga – said Textor.
The Portuguese press released information this Monday that the agreement between the clubs stalled due to the termination fee. Just like Textor, people linked to the coach point out the agreement with Botafogo has been sealed and signed since Friday.
– I spoke to Artur 30 minutes ago. He was getting ready for the game. We signed with the club, everything was friendly. He received 3 million euros. One part in cash, the other in player credit in the future. I hope they honor the contract. When clubs do this, they typically honor the agreements – said Textor in an interview with “Canal do Medeiros”.
I don’t understand why they asked us to hold off on the announcement until after today’s game and now they are announcing in the press that the deal is not closed. I’m not very happy about it, but we never know where the noise is coming from.

Artur Jorge has a contract until mid-2025 with Braga and a fine of 10 million euros (R$53.9 million, at current prices). Braga had an agreement in place with Daniel Sousa, from Arouca. However, the club does not want to release the professional during the Portuguese Championship dispute without financial compensation.
The expectation is that Artur Jorge will arrive in Rio de Janeiro next Tuesday. He must still coach Braga in the match against Portimonense, this Monday, at 4:30 pm, and must provide clarification on the situation after the match at a press conference.
Artur spent practically his entire career at Braga. He started with the Guerreiros do Minho under-19 team in 2019, played for the B team, but left in 2013 to coach the Tirsense professional team, in the lower divisions of Portugal. He returned to Braga, to lead the under-15 team, in 2017. From there, he rose step by step until reaching the main team in 2022.
Braga is currently 4th in the Portuguese Championship, with 53 points – five behind Porto, in 3rd. The team played in the Champions League this season, but came third in a group with Real Madrid and Napoli and went on to the Europa League, where they were eliminated by Qarabag in the first knockout stage.
He was champion of the Portuguese League Cup this season, the main title of Artur’s career – in the campaign, he beat Estoril in the final on penalties and eliminated Benfica in the semi-final on penalties as well.
