Brazil secured a place on the podium of the badminton Mexico Challenge. In the men’s doubles competition, Matheus Voigt and Izak Batalha won two matches this Friday (3), guaranteeing their place in the semi-finals of the competition. This way, the Brazilians took at least the bronze medal in Guadalajara.

In the first match of the day, in the round of 16, Matheus Voigt and Izak Batalha faced Mexicans Eliasib Chapa and Alfonso Salas. The Brazilian duo dominated the match from the start, winning the game 2-0, with scores of 21/6 and 21/9. Later, in the quarterfinals, Matheus and Izak faced Guatemalans Chistopher Alexander and Jonathan Solis. This time, the game was more competitive, with tighter games. But again the Brazilian duo won the match 2-0, with splits of 21/19 and 21/18.

The semifinals of the Mexico Challenge take place this Saturday (3). Number 2 seeds in the tournament, Matheus Voigt and Izak Batalha play against Canadian Lap Kern and Englishman Larry Pong for a place in the final of the competition.
