Two people were arrested by the Civil Police this Thursday morning (25) during an operation against a gang suspected of stealing agricultural pesticides. According to the investigation, the group operated in the region of the cities of Silvanópolis, Ipueiras and Monte do Carmo.
The operation, called Venom, carried out two search and seizure warrants at the suspects’ home.
“They resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition and clothing that we believe would be used in criminal actions,” said delegate Gustavo Henrique.
The suspects were arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and sent to the Porto Nacional Prison Unit. The names were not disclosed and the g1 he couldn’t make contact with their defense.
The operation was carried out by the Specialized Police Station for Combating Rural Crimes and Abigeato (Deleagro), together with the 7th Specialized Division for the Repression of Organized Crime (Deic – Porto Nacional).
According to the police, based on the elements collected in this first phase, it will be possible to advance the investigations to uncover the entire criminal network involved in the thefts, from the perpetrators to the receivers of the agricultural pesticides.
