Skull fractures: elderly man is suspected of killing his wife with a hammer in MG

An 85-year-old man, suspected of executing his 73-year-old wife, with several hammer blows, in the Palmeiras neighborhood, in Baependi, in the south of Minas Gerais, was arrested this Thursday (2/5), reported the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) this Friday (3/5). The woman’s skull had fractures, according to forensics.

The arrest was made by the Military Police and ratified at the police station by PCMG. According to the incident report, the military was called after the suspect reported the woman’s death to his granddaughter’s partner, who lives in the same house where the victim was found.

The PM says the elderly woman was found in bed with blood marks and a pillow over her face. When asked about the circumstances of the death, the husband denied the murder and stated that his companion fell in the early hours of the morning.

The military also interviewed the victim’s son. He said he found a blood-stained hammer inside a bag at the property and handed the material over to the police. The incident does not mention whether the suspect is the boy’s father or stepfather. There is still no information about what motivated the crime.

According to PCMG, the victim had skull and jaw fractures. The elderly man was taken to the Civil Police station in Caxambu, where the arrest was confirmed. Afterwards, he entered the prison system, making himself available to the courts.
