With two weekends of lots of music, Rock in Rio confirmed ONE day of rock. This ticket is true. The event will feature classic bands Deep Purple and Journey, as well as Evanescence, Avenged Sevenfold and Incubus, formed in the 1990s, on their biggest night.
The artists are scheduled for September 15th, which will be Rock Day. Ironically, the festival is still called Rock in Rio, but this year, when it intends to celebrate 40 years since its debut, it looks more like Pop, Rap and Samba in Rio.
Who plays where
Avenged Sevenfold, Evanescence and Journey (who the new generation knows from “Glee’s” cover of the hit “Don’t Stop Believin'”) will play on the Mundo stage, while Deep Purple and Incubus will take on the Sunset stage. No one explained how this division occurred, which sounds quite random.
To top it off, the ironic Rock Day will host Planet Hemp with guests Pitty and Barão Vermelho (the version without Frejat) on the Sunset stage.
Rock in Rio takes place from September 13th to 22nd, 2024, in Cidade do Rock, in Rio de Janeiro. The expectation is that 700,000 people will attend the festival, which celebrates 40 years of history and which, in 2022, received the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the City and State of Rio de Janeiro.
