Environmental Military Police dismantles illegal mining in Natividade rivers
Nine people are suspected of carrying out mining activities without an environmental license in tributaries of the Peixe River and the Manoel Alves River, in the municipality of Natividade, in the southeast region of the state. They were fined R$110,000 and had their boat burned.
Teams from the Environmental Military Police Battalion (BPMA), with support from the Shock Police Battalion (BPchoque)/Dog Operations Group (GOC), found two ferries without environmental licensing mining gold, on Monday (7).
O g1 did not have access to the names of the suspects and, for this reason, did not find their defense team to comment on the case.
During the approach, gold ore extraction equipment, two drums used in mining, three precision scales, two aluminum boats, two outboard motors and a freezer were identified and seized. Part of the seized material will be donated to charity.
The ferry, containing a suction dredger, compressor, Scania engine and other equipment that could not be removed, was burned. (See video above)
According to the BPMA, the practice is provided for by law and aims to prevent the occurrence of new infractions and safeguard environmental recovery.
