Uniforms sold out and around R$36,000 raised. This was the balance of the charity bazaar promoted by Sport, this Wednesday, to help those left homeless by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. Stretched out on a clothesline inside the club headquarters, shirts from official games from the last two years were put up for sale in the amounts of R$75 and R$100, respectively.

The success of an action, reinforces Sport’s vice-president of marketing, Eduardo Arruda, who has little to do with the sector he thinks about, but rather with the “red and black essence”.

“I think that, as a fan, it is a business that is in Sport’s DNA: getting involved in social issues. We have already done adoption, an organ donation campaign, we have always worked on this front. It is very clear, from the support of the fans, that It’s something that belongs to the club”, he states, then anticipating other actions to help Rio Grande do Sul.

– We will do everything, we should have more news soon. We held the bazaar and we are looking at something with sponsors to see other things and extend our support as much as possible. This is the spirit that the club has, as an entity.

In the shirt action, however, the club received the amount and will still decide which organization it will send the transfer to. The uniforms offered for sale were in stock awaiting destination because they were shirts marked for specific games, specific sponsorships, etc.

– These are shirts that we had in stock, in our warehouse… Shirt scheduled for a game, occasional sponsorship, change of sponsor, change of model, and we had this stock. We were thinking about what we were going to do and the opportunity arose. The turnout was much greater than you imagine and everything turned out, impressive – adds Eduardo Arruda.
