Delivered this Friday, April 26, the Guaraci Mendes Military Supervision School of Elementary Education, in Thailand, in the northeast of Pará, is administered by the city hall, but will feature the implementation of Military Educational Supervision (Sume), a Police program Militar do Pará (PM-PA) which aims to promote, through the presence of military supervisors, a culture of peace in schools. Governor Helder Barbalho participated in the delivery of the educational unit. There, 800 students will be served, from 6th to 9th grade.

The Guaraci Mendes school will be the second in Thailand to have Sume. The José Edvar Coelho Frota school already has the initiative implemented. Furthermore, nine other schools, in eight municipalities, already operate under the supervision of military police officers: in Abaetetuba, Altamira, Ananindeua, Belém, Breu Branco, Canaã dos Carajás, Marabá and Tucuruí.

Sume’s activities seek to establish strategies with municipal or state educational institutions and communities, implementing security measures, offering disciplinary support and contributing to the overall development of students. The objective is to prevent violence and crime and promote a culture of peace and the exercise of citizenship.

Sume has an application created with the aim of strengthening family ties with the school, enabling guardians to have real-time student information, thus ensuring greater security for parents and guardians.

I hope that Sume will spread to other schools in neighboring municipalities”, she declared.

Ivanir Santos is the director of the Guaraci Mendes school, and confirms the gains for the students and the entire municipality with the implementation of Sume. “This will help a lot in their training, because the positivist system contributes a lot in this sense”, he concludes.
