Gasmig presents execution schedule for gas pipeline in the Center-West of Minas

Gas pipeline in the Center-West of Minas should have its work completed in the first half of 2026. Gasmig will carry out 300 km of work to bring natural gas to Divinópolis.

This Wednesday morning (08/05), at Fiemg’s headquarters in Divinópolis, the presentation of the work schedule for the gas pipeline that will serve eight cities in the center-west of Minas Gerais took place. The project will have an investment of around R$800 million and is expected to impact the lives of around one million miners, generate 15 thousand jobs directly and indirectly, in addition to benefiting more than 900 companies.

According to the schedule presented by Gasmig, the works began in March 2024 and continue to occur within the expected schedule. The expectation for completion of the works is for the first half of 2026.

Gilberto Vale, president of Gasmig, celebrated the execution of the project and reinforced the company’s objective and vision for the project “we want to transform the region, make it more competitive”. Furthermore, Vale also pointed out that “the mid-west project is the showcase for the return of large investments”, explaining the importance of the project for the company.

Representatives from several cities in the region were present at the event, including Formiga, Carmo do Cajuru, Itaúna, Pará de Minas and Cláudio. Representatives of entities from Divinópolis also participated in the meeting, such as Cleberson Nogueira, president of Acid, the president of regional Fiemg, Eduardo Soares, and the secretary of economic development, Luiz Angelo.

Services

According to what was presented, natural gas is a safer, more practical and sustainable energy option. Thus, enabling companies and households to have access to gas. The pipeline will be carried out from the city of Betim and will pass through the cities of Sarzedo, São Joaquim de Bicas, Igarapé, Juatuba, Mateus Leme, Itaúna and Divinópolis.

The construction of the pipeline will be done in stages, where it will connect the cities in stages. At a meeting, it was clarified that the works need to be approved by permit to be carried out, therefore, the expectation is that the major routes will begin in October this year. Therefore, the schedule below will follow:
