The Poultry Organization of Rio Grande do Sul and its member entities (Asgav and Sipargs) make public the first demonstration after the start of the meteorological events that fell, and still fall, on Rio Grande do Sul. In recent days, the sector has been working and supporting actions to save victims, both poultry workers and people in society as a whole.

Industries that were not affected or have branches in other states have contributed considerably by donating food to the shelters and most affected regions. Regarding losses, we are still in the diagnosis phase, which makes it impossible for us to make a more accurate announcement.

However, we emphasize that the sector will certainly need resources, special credit lines for restructuring and acquisition of raw materials and working capital to maintain the activity. On the other hand, we will also be giving full attention to poultry farmers shaken by this catastrophe that hit our State. There were significant losses of birds, genetic material, equipment and structures.

The Taquari Valley, which was affected again in a short space of time, is a region that has a high number of bird plants, which were partially or completely destroyed. In addition, the locality will also need a special plan for recomposition, reconstruction and resumption of the socioeconomic life of industries, workers and their families.

We will continue to support the poultry sector, with assistance and support actions for volunteers and the State government so that together we can get out of this situation as soon as possible. We are mobilized to overcome this tragedy, and we all need to come together, private sector, parliament and other leaders and authorities, to join forces with the state government’s demands with the federal government so that we have an effective, robust, fair and emergency return to the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
