BYD confirmed, in part, what had been speculated for the 2025 Song Plus DM-i line in Brazil. The hybrid SUV, the automaker’s best-selling car in the country in 2023 (even above the Dolphin), will not yet have the renewed look it already has in China, but it will feature new features, mainly in relation to the battery.
The Chinese automaker reported that the 8.3 kWh system, capable of generating a range of 50 km per charge exclusively in electric mode, was replaced by an 18.3 kWh one. With this, the autonomy of the BYD Song Plus DM-i for those who want to drive without using a liter of fuel has increased to a good 105 km.
The change in battery system capacity also improved the combined range of the hybrid SUV. Now, according to the brand’s official figures, the Song Plus can travel up to 1,200 kilometers per charge cycle, compared to the 1,080 previously declared.
In terms of powertrain, however, the configurations follow the same as the model tested (and approved) by the Canaltech. The set consists of a 1.5 gasoline engine, with 110 hp, and an electric engine, with 179 hp. Together, they deliver 235 hp and 40.8 kgf/m of torque to the driver.
Song Plus 2025: Bigger battery, bigger price
The battery capacity wasn’t the only thing that got bigger in the BYD Song Plus DM-i 2025. The Chinese automaker took advantage of the upgrade in the hybrid SUV’s specifications to increase the price of the model in Brazil.
Song Plus, which until then was sold for R$229,800, became R$10,000 more expensive, and now doesn’t leave stores for less than R$239,800. The color options follow the same as the previous line, and offer the customer the shades Time Gray (gray), Snow White (white), Delan Black (black) and Dome Blue (blue).
Among the technology items, the highlight is the increase in the screen of the rotating multimedia center, which increased from 12.8 to 15.6 inches. In addition, the car now has an opening feature via NFC card and a photochromic rear view mirror. The total warranty is 6 years, with no mileage limit, with 8 years of coverage for the battery system.
